Or struggled with pests and diseases and didn’t know what to do? Many beginner gardeners feel discouraged after a few failed attempts. But often, it’s not about having a “green thumb” — it’s about understanding balance. Part of the Beginner’s Gardening Series, this hands-on workshop focuses on starting strong and creating a biodiverse garden that supports itself naturally. Drawing from her experience transforming a tile-covered yard into a thriving edible space, Amy will guide you through practical seed-starting techniques and natural ecosystem management. You’ll learn how to grow with nature instead of constantly fighting problems. This workshop is ideal for beginners, and also for gardeners who have some experience but want to strengthen their skills in seed starting and creating a balanced garden. _____________________________________________________________________________ In this workshop, we will cover: - What permaculture is - How to design a small edible garden step-by-step - Choosing crops that fit your space and lifestyle - Seasonal crop planning in the Dutch climate - Avoiding common beginner mistakes _____________________________________________________________________________ What’s Included: - 2.5 - 3 hours of guided instruction in a small group setting - Hands-on exercises (outdoors when weather permits), with seeds, seedlings, or plant materials to take home when available _____________________________________________________________________________ Part of a Flexible 3-Part Series: This workshop is one of three sessions in the Beginner’s Gardening Series. You are welcome to join just this workshop, attend all three for a complete foundation, or choose only the topics you feel least familiar with. The series runs multiple times throughout the year, while each workshop can be taken individually, we recommend following the numbered order to build your skills step by step. You’re of course welcome to start with the topic that feels most new to you. A discounted rate (€75/session) is available when booking all three workshop topics together.
